A lay man should not get arrested if they implies that the APC's mantra of 'change' is a negative one instead of positive. Indeed! Why would you expect a big deal from a lad that you promised to buy #50 biscuit and eventually bought sweet instead, of the same amount? You failed if you does. Such a child would first appreciate you by receiving the biscuit with the right hand, while the left hand asking the question; 'where is my biscuit?' If unfortunately they are stubborn-head, you will be force to the extreme tail of 'either know.' The drama is the same with what is happening in the contemporary Nigeria. The 'immediate change' promised to the citizens during campaigns; is still latent. And the 'support' and 'loyalty' Nigerians vowed to render; are also not yet on record. These alone are signals that both the govern and the governance are thinking differently on different phenomena, hence, yet to accomplish their tasks.
There is no time between us to keep hindering the fact that a country such as Nigeria that came into existence through forceful integration; can never witnessed the glory time if ethnocentrism continue to be the order of the day. Lets Nigerians forget; it is through unison thinking that brought about the success of decolonisation as fought by our early nationalist. It is a uniform philosophy that do-away with the military juntas penetration of about one and half decade. It is also via the virtue of homogeneous ideology that Norway, Australia, Denmark America, China— among other host countries, can boldly stand in the committee of nation by virtue of their national achievements, today. Why is it Nigeria cannot try the same? Simply because the Nigerian citizenry thinking pattern is in contrast with that of their leaders.
Unlike we have witnessed and witnessing in other forms of government such as; Aristocracy, Kakistocracy, Oligarchy and Monarchy system – were the responsibility of input (now within put) and output are saddled on the hands of a particular individual (s), whereas in democratic system, the political environment is expected to provide input (demand and support) and expects output (authoritative decision and allocation of values) from the government. Sadly to recounts, none of these parties is maintaining its position in the Nigerian democratic cluster. Lost of identity!
The folktale of those six blind men that were asked to touch and describe how elephant looked like –should remain fresh in our minds. As Jain's version observes: The blind man who feels a leg says the elephant is like a pillar; the one who feels the tail says the elephant is like a rope; the one who feels the trunk says the elephant is like a tree branch; the one who feels the ear says the elephant is like a hand fan; the one who feels the belly says the elephant is like a wall; and the one who feels the tusk says the elephant is like a solid pipe – The King, who send them acknowledged: "All of you are right. The reason every one of you is telling it differently is because each one of you touched the different part of the elephant. So, actually the elephant has all the features you mentioned." Likewise, until we marriage our ideologies together; we secure the holistic picture of our solutions.
Beside, Voltaire was not drunk when he asseerted that "He who thinks himself wise, O heavens! is a great fool." When paraphrasing Voltaire, one would realised that the statement is synonymous with: 'He that thinks only for himself, is suffering from egomania'. No gainsaying that all of us are victims. Ernest Haas, the founder of national integration theory, was also not literary mental when he suggested that; independent units should avoid the policy of solving their problems by themselves, rather, collectively. All these are evidence that the united states would remain equipoised than the isolated one. Are we ready to be united? –then, it is 'must' to think on the same direction.
The consequences of unthinking together has continue to do more harm than good to every breathing citizen of Nigeria— thereby blinding our intellectual eyes of distinguishing 'black' and 'white', 'good' and 'evil'– within the country. Due to divergent philosophies in the country, the word 'nation' as the international community characterised us with, cannot stand a critical analysis. The isolation of collective thinking is influencing us to disappreciate the good deeds of our leaders, and pay absolute focus on their weaknesses. Lack of uniform thinking had favoured our leaders to think only for their interest– excluding national interest.
The million dollar question that manifold nigerians are in dire hungry of answer is: 'How realistic is it for a homogenous philosophy to survived in heterogeneous country?' Politically, it is possible. Political communication if used positively, will not only give birth to homogeneous ideology, but also served as a developmental tool. Sadly, the mass media which is a link of actualising these aim in Nigeria, is contemporarily under the leadership of implicature communists, mealymouthed bloggers, and incorrigible season journalists. This is to further justify the fact that the articulated input of the political environment suffered a series of exaggeration before reaching the political system, or not been considered by the political actors; at all. Vis-à-vis, the governmental outputs are often seeing as the opposite of the citizenries inputs.
